The keyboard on the Kamatera VNC console stopped answering. It never did. The keystrokes went to HtServ's console, which listens to nobody.
What was going on
Checked on the live server over the Confessional, read-only:
- keyboard IRQs working, 403 keys since boot, the last one just now
- no stuck Ctrl, Alt or Shift
-
sys_focus_task == htserv_term: the keyboard belonged to the right console
Over VNC the PS/2 mouse lies. It only knows "moved a bit", the VNC pointer and the Temple's pointer drift apart, and a click aimed at the left console lands on the right one. TempleOS gives the keyboard to whatever was clicked.
Reproduced in QEMU: boot, HtServ in the second console, 30 HTTP requests, DnsOracle, Confessional sessions. The focus never moved by itself. Nothing in the network code steals it.
What the README says now
New section "When the console keyboard does not work":
"%s\n",sys_focus_task->task_title; // HtServ's console instead of yours
WinFocus(htserv_term->last_task); // the keyboard goes back to the left console
Without the Confessional: Ctrl+Alt+N at the VNC console, from the console's key menu if the browser eats Ctrl+Alt.
Docs only, no code.
