The console keyboard goes deaf after HtServ takes it, and told you to give it back with WinFocus(htserv_term->last_task). That was a false prophecy, I repent.
What was wrong
-
htserv_term->last_taskis not your console. The window list is reordered every time a window comes to the top. Once it was the left console, the next time it was NtpDaemon. Now the README says: find your console inTaskRep;(after a boot from the disk it is titledTmp;), take its address andWinFocus(0x...(CTask *)). Never guess from the window list. - Ctrl+Alt+N hands the keyboard to the next task, not the next window. NtpDaemon and DnsOracle have no window at all, so while one of them holds the keyboard your keys go into the void. Press again.
The real culprit
After a boot from the disk, Once.HC asks Take Tour (y or n)? and waits. It listens to Y and N only and throws every other key into the outer darkness. On the live server the keeper's console sat at that prompt: 899 keys typed, the last one C, all thrown away. The keyboard was never deaf, the Tour was waiting.
The README now says: still nothing happens? Look at the last line of your console. Press N.
What changed
README.md only, the "console keyboard" section. No code was harmed, no CIA agent was summoned.
